View From The Opposition

Before the whistle is blown, we ask our counterparts in other LGBT Groups what they think about the upcoming game, the season and West Ham.

Leicester (Home)

24th November 2017

This week we spoke to Rishi Madlani from Proud Foxes who gave his view on the upcoming game.

What have you made of Leicester's start to the season?

Pretty mixed so far - always hard to know what to expect when your past 3 seasons have been: the Great Escape, winning the Premier League and Quarter Finals of the Champions League. We were awful in some games under Shakespeare - Bournemouth away comes to mind - but we were very unlucky first game of the season against Arsenal. I've also enjoyed how we have started to play under Puel and am optimistic for the rest of the season.

How do you expect to set up versus West Ham?

4-4-1-1 or a variation thereof - under Puel he has managed to accommodate Gray and Mahrez which was a joy to watch against Everton and a stark contrast to his reputation at Southampton.

Which player do you expect to be dangerous for both sides?

Gray and Mahrez have been great to watch under Puel and Vardy is always dangerous - we missed Iborra when he went off against Stoke and is rapidly becoming a favourite.

From the Hammers Carroll has always made an impact when fit - Lanzini seems to look good on Match of the Day and I think Javier Hernandez looked like a good signing with his goal scoring record.

What do the fans think of Claude Puel?

A lot more than the initial underwhelming response! I was politely reminded I was unexcited by Ranieri but he's brought an exciting style of play and I think we are now optimistic for the season - great performance against Everton, had enough chances to beat Stoke and looking forward to the game on Friday.

Your view of West Ham?

Well I think we had only won 3 times at the Boleyn Ground in 50 odd years so that had been pretty miserable. Our recent run of form against you is brilliant so really looking forward to making it two wins a row at the Olympic Stadium!

Where do you expect the two teams to finish at the end of the season?

Anywhere between 7th and 15th - such narrow differentials this season.

First goal scorer of this weekend's match?

Vardy for sure!

And finally, scoreline for this weekend's match?

2-0 Leicester win - ever optimistic!

Thanks Rishi for taking part. As ever, good luck for the season ahead - just not in this fixture.

Liverpool (Home)

04th November 2017

This week we spoke to Paul Amann from Kop Outs who gave his view on the upcoming game.

What have you made of Liverpool's start to the season?

Very mixed start to the season, from the sublime Maribor and Arsenal, to the ridiculous Manchester City.

How do you expect to set up versus West Ham?

Attack, attack, attack - Liverpool under Klopp have basically one of these three approaches available to them.

Which player do you expect to be dangerous for both sides?

The return of Sadio Mané will doubtless present our hosts with some worries. If Andy Carroll gets good service, he remains a potent threat.

What do the fans think of Jurgen Klopp?

Liverpool fans by and large are pleased with Jurgen Klopp. His ambition in setting us up as an attacking side is solidly in the mold of great Liverpool managers, some greater focus on Liverpool as a bastion of invincibility would be welcome.

Your view of West Ham?

As a club, I feel for West Ham, a club with great pedigree now playing in a place that doesn't feel like home.

Where do you expect the two teams to finish at the end of the season?

Liverpool should finish in the top four, I expect West Ham to challenge for a Europa position.

First goal scorer of this weekend's match?

Sadio Mané.

And finally, scoreline for this weekend's match?

0-3

Thanks so much to Paul - especially for the generous end of season prediction! The best of luck for the rest of the season, though I don't think you'll need much of that this weekend! ;)

Brighton (Home)

20th October 2017

This week we spoke to Stuart Matthews of the Proud Seagull who gave his view on the upcoming game.

What have you made of Brighton's start to the season?

Not too shabby, at least we're not bottom! I think the plan is just to stay up. Even 17th would be okay.

How do you expect to set up versus West Ham?

No doubt the squad will be the same as the last game; 442. No history so who can say game-wise?

Which player do you expect to be dangerous for both sides?

Our defence, Duffy 'n Dunk!

What do the fans think of Chris Houghton?

Absolute legend. Having met him, he's brilliant!

West Ham; love 'em or hate 'em?

I only support one team, Brighton. ;)

Where do you expect the two teams to finish at the end of the season?

Both mid-table I hope!

First goal scorer of this weekend's match?

Knockhaert.

And finally, scoreline for this weekend's match?

1-1

Thanks to Stuart and good luck for the season.

West Brom (Away)

This week we spoke to Piero Zizzi of the Proud Baggies who gave his view on the upcoming game.

What have you made of West Brom's start to the season?

Good start to the season but disappointing performance & result last weekend against Brighton. A Positive transfer window though, some great signings and keeping Jonny Evans was vital.

How do you expect to set up versus West Ham?

Our usual 4-2-3-1 (or 4-5-1; however you look at it) with 2 holding midfielders. Expect a few square pegs in round holes as per. Selection dilemma for Pulis with new signings, a couple of knocks and needing to bounce back from last weekend's result. We're typically organised and hard to break down (usually!)

Which player do you expect to be dangerous for both sides?

West Ham have several dangerous players; we'll be aware of Carroll's aerial threat so expect a battle with our centre halves, along with Antonio's pace/power and Hernandez's predatory instincts. For the Albion, we're usually a big threat at Set-pieces. Our fans will be looking forward to seeing the likes of new signings Gibbs, Krychowiak & Burke. Chadli proved last season against the Hammers he can be a match winner when on form & if selected.

What do the fans think of Tony Pulis?

50/50; half are #PulisOut. We punch above our weight but some think he's too negative & defence minded, lacking ambition & creativity.

West Ham; love 'em or hate 'em?

We have no particular reason to hate 'em. We hate Villa & Wolves more!

Where do you expect the two teams to finish at the end of the season?

Mid-table. We'd be happy with another top 10 finish

First goal scorer of this weekend's match?

Jay Rodriguez

And finally, scoreline for this weekend's match?

It's usually a bore draw, but I'll be optimistic and say 2-1 to the Baggies! Safe journey to all those Hammers & Pride of Irons travelling up! ⚒

Thanks to Piero and good luck for the season...just not against us. ;)
